About Me:
Mexico and Scotland...an unlikely pair, I know, but these are two of my favorite places in the world! After 12 years in the travel industry - part of the time working for an old fashioned full-service travel agency, part of the time working on my own from my home - and after visiting lots of different parts of the world, I've decided that my favorite places to be are either Mexico or Scotland.
I am a "ScotsAgent", the official Destination Specialist program from the Visit Scotland Bureau. I've been to Scotland several times, and I just love it. I guess I first fell in love with the country during history classes at school. I've seen "Trainspotting", I've seen "Braveheart" and I've seen "Local Hero", and I've personally visited all of the places featured in those films. Most of the people have a friendliness about them that reminds me of my home in Northern California. And even though the weather would keep me from ever spending more than two weeks at a time there, I still love to escape into those foggy highlands to sip some scotch (Blair Athol is a favorite) or a cup of tea, hike in the hills, and wander through Edinburgh.
As for Mexico - well, I've been heading South of the Border since college days, when we used to drive down the Baja and camp on the beach. Where we brave? Naive? Nonetheless, the love of the people, the music, the food, the history and the culture has never lost it's charm. I am a Mexico Destination Specialist with the Travel Institute, and have taken formal training from the Visitors Bureaus of many individual regions. I have personally been up and down both coasts - down the Baja and to the "Mexican Riviera" resort communities, and, on the Caribbean side, I've been from the Punta Cancun all the way down to Majahual, through what is called the "Mayan Riviera." In addition, I've visited a few of the colonial cities of Mexico, and have completed a specialist course on those areas.
My clients like my laid-back attitude - no hard sell here - and they like all the little extras that I try to add into each and every travel experience I plan, from little gifts at hotels and on cruise ships to hand written welcome home cards (there are some things that just don't go out of style!).
