Detailed Trip Description

Revelation was first written for Christians living in seven cities in Asia Minor, in what today is the country of Turkey. The book was penned by a Christian named John, who had visions on the island of Patmos near the end of the first century A.D. This tour of the seven cities is designed to open the door into the world that was first addressed by Revelation's visions.

Trip Itinerary

Day 1 - On the Bus

 
Izmir Arrival - Pergamon - Thyatira

Day 01
Izmir Arrival - Pergamon - Thyatira
Arival to Izmir airport. Meet and departure to visit Pergamon (Pergamon Revelation 2:12-17), the Acropolis, the Asclepion and the Red Basilica. Then drive to Akhisar to visit the Church of ancient Thyatira (Thyatira Revelation 2:18-29 Acts 16:14) which was a commercial and agricultural center on the highway between Troy and Sardes. Return to Izmir for dinner and overnight. (L, D)

Smyrna - Ephesus - Pamukkale

Day 02
Smyrna - Ephesus - Pamukkale
Early departure to visit the Church of St. Polycarpe which is the oldest church in ancient Smyrna (Smyrna Revelation 2:8-11), it symbolized the community of the Seven Churches of the Apocalypse. Then visit to the unforgettable remains of Ephesus (Ephesus Revelation 1:11:2:1-7 Acts 18:19-28:19), the House of Virgin Mary, the Archaeological Museum and the Basilica of Saint John. Continue to Pamukkale for dinner and overnight at hotel. (B, L, D)

Hierapolis - Laodicea - Philadelphia - Sardes - Izmir Departure

Day 03
Hierapolis - Laodicea - Philadelphia - Sardes - Izmir Departure
Morning visit to see Hierapolis, The Martyrium of St. Philip the Apostle is here and Eskihisar, ancient Leodicaea (Laodicea Revelation 3:14-22). Continue to Alasehir where the ancient Philadelphia Church (Philadelphia Revelation 3:7-13) is located. After lunch proceed to Sardes (Sardes Revelation 3:1-6), ancient capital of the Lydians and visit the Church of Sardes. Return back to Izmir after the tour. Drop off at the airport or hotel.
