Detailed Trip Description

The Swahili Classic package will help you discover the history and culture of Zanzibar. You also spend some time at the beach. Zanzibar’s history is connected with its earlier role as a transit market for slaves and ivory. Zanzibar is a fusion of cultures and African Arab and Persian influences are prominent. You will see ruins of palaces and ancient mosques’, a Sultans harem, and the Mangapwani slave caves. In addition you will get to eat a Swahili lunch and take a half-day cultural tour. Your stay will be at Tembo House, an elegant hotel located on the sea front of Stone Town- the cultural heart of Zanzibar.

Trip Itinerary

Day 1 - Zanzibar

 
Arrive Zanzibar.
Private Car Service

On arrival in Zanzibar you will be met by our representative and transferred to Tembo House Hotel in Stone Town.

Tembo House Hotel is an elegant hotel located on the sea front of the Stone Town, Zanzibar Island. Zanzibar International Airport is 10 km away. All rooms are spacious and beautifully decorated with oriental and traditional Zanzibar ornaments, antiques and furniture. All rooms are air-conditioned and have telephone, satellite TV, minibar and ensuite bathrooms. The hotel has a restaurant featuring local and international cuisine, bars and a gift shop. Tembo House is based on Bed and Brekafast basis. Overnight at Tembo House Hotel.


Day 2 - Zanzibar

 
Slave Market, Palace & Mangapwani Beach.
Sightseeing

After breakfast depart to the former Slave market for a guided tour of the site.

Afterwards drive to Maruhubi Palace ruins. The palace was built by Sultan Barghash in 1880 to house his harem but burnt down in 1889. Among the ruins you will still be able to get a feel of the former grandeur of this palace. Your guide will show round the Palace, the fishing village and the dhow shed.

Afterwards you will drive to Mangapwani village. Here, you tour the local farms and visit the former slave chambers and caves.

Food and Dining

Enjoy a Swahili lunch at Zanzibar Serena Hotel in Mangapwani.

Beach

After lunch, spend the afternoon at leisure on Mangapwani beach.

Sailing

At 1600 hrs, depart from Mangapwani aboard a local dhow and Sail back to Stone Town.

Food and Dining

You will have dinner at Blues Restaurant.

Overnight at Tembo House Hotel.


Day 3 - Zanzibar

 
Zanzibar - Cultural Tour.
Sightseeing

After breakfast depart with picnic lunch boxes for a half-day cultural tour at Kizimbani village.

Dinner and overnight at Tembo House Hotel.


Day 4 - Zanzibar

 
Depart.

After breakfast check out and transfer to Zanzibar Airport for your flight back home.
