Detailed Trip Description
During this 15 Days Mythical China and Tibet Tour, you will enjoy sightseeing and many activities in Shanghai, Kunming, Lijiang, Zhongdian, Lhasa, Holy Train Express, Xining and Beijing. The tour includes 2 nights at a 4* hotel. (Shanghai Galaxy Hotel or similar). You will then spend 1 night at 5* hotel Kunming Kai Wah International Hotel or a similar hotel. In Lijiang, you will spend 2 nights in a 5* hotel- Lijiang Wangbo Interational Hotel or similar. For two nights you will stay in 4* hotel at Zhongdian Resort or similar. You will spend the following three nights in Lhasa at the 5* Lhasa Yaluzangbu Hotel or similar. One night will be spent on the first class “Holy Train” Soft Sleeper. Your last three nights of this trip, you will stay for three nights at a 5* hotel either at Beijing Plaza Royal, Beijing Grand Chang An Hotel, Oriental Bar Hotel or similar.

Day 1 - Shanghai
Hotel
Upon arriving in Shanghai, you will be transferred to your 4* hotel for overnight.
Day 2 - Shanghai
Sightseeing
A full day of city sightseeing includes: the Bund, Yu Yuan Gardens, the extensive Shanghai Museum, and a shopper’s paradise, Nanjing Road.
Performing Arts
In the evening attend a traditional Chinese Acrobatic Show. (B. L. D)
Day 3 - Kunming
Shanghai - Kunming.
Commercial Flight
A morning flight take you to Kunming.
Hotel
Transfer to the 5* Kai Wah International Hotel.

Day 4 - Lijiang
Kunming - Lijiang.

Begins your exciting adventure in “Shangri-La,” the mythical utopia created by the book "Lost Horizon."

An afternoon tour includes Black Dragon Pond, Dongba Museum, and the James Luck House (American historian who lived there 18 years).

Day 5 - Lijiang
Sightseeing
Exploration of Shangri-La continues with Jade Peak Temple, Baisha Minority Village & Ancient Wall Paintings, and world famous, snow-peaked Jade Dragon Mountain (by cable car).
Performing Arts
Here you will see an authentic Tibetan Dance Performance.
Hotel
Return to Lijiang for a free evening and overnight. (B, L)
Day 6 - Lijiang
Lijiang - Zhongdian.
Sightseeing
A beautiful 230KM drive via Tiger Jump Gorges takes you to the heart of Shangri-La: Zhongdian. Travel along the ancient Tea & House Trade Track to Tibet village homes and also Napa Lake, a natural beauty flanked by snow-capped mountains blooming with a thousand fragrant flowers. (B, L, D)
Day 7 - China
Sightseeing
“Another day in paradise” to visit Songzhanlin Monastery, the old town of Zhongdian, and the regional History Museum.
Hotel
Spend a second evening in your 4* hotel. (B, L, D)
Day 8 - Lhasa
Zhongdian - Lhasa, Tibet.
Commercial Flight
In the morning fly to Lhasa Gongar Airport.
Bus
After a two hour motorcoach ride you arrive in the holy city of Lhasa!

After check-in at the 5* Yaluzhangbu Hotel, the remainder of the day is free to adjust to the higher plateau altitudes. (B, L, D)
Day 9 - Lhasa
Sightseeing
First visit Potala Palace and in the afternoon visit the Sera Monastery and Norbuglinkha (The Jewel Park and Summer Palace for Dalai Lhama).
Performing Arts
Tonight enjoy dinner and a Tibet Cultural Dance Show at the Crazy Yak Restaurant. (B, L, SD)
Day 10 - Lhasa
Sightseeing
Tour the 7th century Jokhank (Dazao) Monastery and Jokang temple with its golden roofs and which houses valuable Buddhist relics.
Shopping
Take some time to stroll and shop along Barkhor Street.

In the afternoon you will have the opportunity to see a Tibetan hospital and visit a local family’s home.
Food and Dining
A Tibetan Dinner at the Great Yak Restaurant tops off this day! (B, L, SD)
Day 11 - Lhasa
Lhasa - Holy Train Express.
Sightseeing
The Qinghai-Tibet Railway boasts a number of world records! It is the world’s highest railway with a high point of 5072 meters. It is the longest plateau railroad and includes the longest plateau tunnel built on frozen earth through Kunlun Mountain.

Enjoy a full day of breathtaking landscapes with “scenery sight viewing stops” along the way. A soft sleeper has been reserved for you. (B, L, D)
Day 12 - Xining
Xining - Beijing.
Train
The Holy train arrives in Xining in the morning.

An afternoon city tour visits the Warlord House of General Ma Bufang & Ethnic Museum and the Xiguan Moslem Temple.
Commercial Flight
A late afternoon flight takes you to Beijing where you are transferred to a 5* hotel for overnight. (B, L )
Day 13 - Beijing
Sightseeing
Today is a full day of sightseeing which includes many of this city’s highlights: Tiananmen Square, the magnificent Forbidden City, and the Summer Palace. (B, L, D)
Day 14 - Beijing
Sightseeing
Today’s excursion takes you to the Badaling section of the Great Wall of China. After that visits are made to the Ming Tombs and the statue-lined Sacred Way.

In the evening enjoy a traditional Peking Duck Dinner & cultural show. (B, L, D)
Day 15 - Beijing
Beijing - USA.
After breakfast you will be transferred to the Beijing Airport for your homeward journey. (B)
