Trip Itinerary

Day 1 - On the Plane

 
USA-Dublin.
Commercial Flight

Fly transatlantic overnight to London, England.

Dinner is served and in-flight entertainment is provided.


Day 2 - London

 
Arrive in London, England.
Hotel

After checking into your hotel, the remainder of the day is at leisure.

Day 3 - London

 
London/Stratford/Coventry/York/Harrogate.
Sightseeing

Drive through the rolling Cotswold Hills to Stratford-upon-Avon. Visit Shakespeare's birthplace and view Anne Hathaway's cottage. Continue on to Coventry where you will see two Cathedrals, one which was bombed into a ruin during World War II and the other which has risen from its ashes.

Also see the statue of Lady Godiva before continuing to Viking York. Enjoy a walking tour of the city highlighting the mansion House, the picturesque "Shambles" and the magnificent Minister.

Food and Dining

Then on to Harrogate for a welcome Drink and Dinner.


Day 4 - Edinburgh

 
Harrogate/Durham/Edinburgh.
Bus

This morning journey to Durham, dominated by its 11th-century Norman Cathedral with its castle over-looking Palace Green and other fine buildings surrounded by the picturesque River Wear.

National Parks

There is time to explore this small but magnificent city before driving through Northumberland National Park to a section of Hadrian's Wall.

Sightseeing

Cross the Scottish border at Carter Bar for spectacular views and pause to see the ruins of Jedburgh Abbey before arriving in Edinburgh, Scotland's elegant capital.


Day 5 - Edinburgh

 
Sightseeing

A morning tour includes the Royal Mile, views of Holyrood House, Princess Street and visit the Edinburgh castle.

You may want to view nearby Rosslyn Chapel, that retains an aura of mystery with its references to the Knights Templar, but more recently as an important feature of the Da Vinci Code. Note: Tickets to the Military Tattoo are included on Jul 31-Aug 15 departures.


Day 6 - Edinburgh

 
Edinburgh/St Andrews/ Scottish Highlands.
Sightseeing

Drive across the Forth Road Bridge and along the Fife coast to the famous golf course of St. Andrews and stop at the 18th hole.

On to the Scottish Highlands to visit charming Pitlochry village and then travel to the Highland village of Laggan.


Day 7 - Glasgow

 
Scottish Highlands/ Culloden/ Loch Ness/ Glasgow.
Bus

Drive to Culloden Moor where Bonnie Prince Charlie was defeated by the redcoats. Visit the famous battlefield before continuing to Loch Ness; keep your eyes open for "Nessie."

Sightseeing

On to Fort William with views of Ben Nevis, Britain's highest mountain before driving on to Glencoe. Travel along Lomond en route to Scotlands largest City, Glasgow.


Day 8 - Glasgow

 
Glasgow/Lake District/Lancashire.
Sightseeing

After an orientation tour of Glasgow, drive to Gretna Green where the blacksmith would marry eloping couples.

On the return to England, see Lake Windermere, England's largest lake.

Visit Grasmere and St. Oswald's Church where the poet Wordworth is buried before ending at the hotel.


Day 9 - Bristol

 
Lancashire/Chester/Tintern/Bristol.
Sightseeing

Your first stop is in Chester for a walking tour. Cross into Wales and Wye Valley to view the ruins of the 12th-century Tintern Abbey.

Food and Dining

Tonight, savor a Farewell Dinner.


Day 10 - London

 
Bristol/Bath/Stonehenge/London.
Sightseeing

Travel to Bath to visit the Roman Baths.

Sightseeing

Then journey across Salisbury where there is time to admire the Cathederal.

Bus

Finally, journey through Wiltshire and Hampshire back to London.


Day 11 - London

 
Depart London.

Your homebound flight arrives the same day.
