Detailed Trip Description
Enjoy 9 Days Turkish Delight tour featuring sightseeing and many activities in Istanbul, Canakkale, Pergamum, Kusadasi and Pamukkale. Highlights include a trip to Istanbul to visit the Blue Mosque, the Grand Bazaar and the Spice Market with a local guide, and to see The Hagia Sofia, Topkapi Palace and Suleymaniye Mosque. Then cross the Dardanelles waterway by ferry boat in Gallipoli. Once you're there you can visit Lone Pine Cemetery and see ANZAC Cove, or drive along the Sea of Marmara. Your trip will then take you to Troy to see the famed Wooden Horse. Have a scenic mountain drive up to ancient Pergamum, once the capital of Asia Minor. See Izmir, the birthplace of Homer. Then head to Kusadasi to have a guided tour of Ephesus. While you're there, see the shopping Bazaar and the bustling port. Visit the ancient Roman resort town Hieropolis and see the famous church. End your trip with a tour to Pamukkale to see the thermal pool and calcium terraces.
Trip Itinerary
Day 1 - On the Plane
Depart for Europe.
Commercial Flight
Your exciting European trip begins.
Day 2 - Istanbul
Arrive Istanbul.
Hotel
Make your way from the airport and check into your Hotel. This evening meet your Tour Guide and fellow travellers.
Day 3 - Canakkale
Istanbul to Canakkale.
Sightseeing
First to the Gallipoli Battlefields to experience this historic area and pay our respects.
Then we take a ferry across the Dardanelles to Asia Minor and our hotel this evening. (Breakfast, Dinner)
Day 4 - Canakkale
Canakkale to Kusadasi.
Sightseeing
Enjoy free time in Troy this morning with the chance to see the remains of the ancient Trojan city and setting to Homer's "Illiad."
Bus
It's a scenic drive along the coast to discover the ancient city of Pergamum before we make our way to seaside Kusadasi. (Breakfast, Dinner)
Day 5 - Turkey
Kusadasi.
Sightseeing
Visit Ephesus with your guide before taking the opportunity to learn about the folklore and history of Turkey with a visit to a carpet factory. ( Breakfast )
Day 6 - Turkey
Kusadasi to Pamukkale.
Sightseeing
We travel to Hieropolis to see the ancient Roman spa town.
Spa/Wellness
Next stop is Pamukkale where you can enjoy a dip in the thermal pools. (Breakfast, Dinner)
Day 7 - Istanbul
Pamukkale to Istanbul.
Bus
Today we drive through the Turkish countryside back into Europe and Istanbul.
Sightseeing
Tonight enjoy this bustling town. (Breakfast)
Day 8 - Istanbul
Sightseeing
Experience the Blue Mosque, the Grand Bazaar and the Spice Market with your guide before free time to explore this exotic city.
Performing Arts
Why not indulge in a Turkish Bath and then tonight, perhaps join us for a fun evening with belly-dancing. (Breakfast)
Day 9 - Istanbul
Depart Istanbul.
Time to swap addresses and say farewell to your new-found friends as your tour ends after breakfast. ( Breakfast )
