Trip Itinerary

Day 1 - On the Plane

 
Commercial Flight

Board your overnight transatlantic flight.


Day 2 - London

 
Arrive In London, England.

After checking into your hotel, the remainder of the day is free.

Day 3 - London

 
Sightseeing

Many major sights are included on your morning sightseeing tour. Then enjoy time on your own. (B)


Day 4 - Amsterdam

 
London - Amsterdam, Holland.
Bus

This morning drive to Dover.

Sightseeing

Admire the White Cliffs on the Channel crossing to Calais, France. Travel through Belgium en route to lively Amster­dam. Here, an orientation tour shows you the Mint Tower, Dam Square and more.

Food and Dining

Enjoy a Welcome Drink with your Tour Director.

River or Barge Cruise

Enjoy a canal cruise in a glass-topped boat. (CB)

Day 5 - Amsterdam

 
Amsterdam - Cologne, Germany - Rhine Cruise - Frankfurt Area.
Sightseeing

Visit a diamond polishing and cutting factory (opening times permitting). Next head into Germany, stopping at Cologne to see its gothic cathedral.

River or Barge Cruise

Then travel via Bonn to Boppard for an enchanting Rhine cruise past castles, little riverside towns and vineyards. Finally, on to the city of Frankfurt. (B,D)

Stay at Sheraton Offenbach (SF) in Offenbach.


Day 6 - Frankfurt

 
Frankfurt Area - ­heidelberg - Strasbourg, France - Engelberg, Switzer­land.
Sightseeing

Your first stop today is Heidel­berg, to view the castle. Next, on to medieval Strasbourg where an orientation highlights the cathedral.

Bus

Then a scenic drive through Alsace vineyards to the Swiss border at Basel and the resort of Engelberg. (B,D)

Day 7 - Lucerne

 
Lucerne Excursion.
Sightseeing

A short drive brings you to Lucerne. A tour of this medieval town includes the Lion Monument and the Chapel Bridge.

Day 8 - Innsbruck

 
Engelberg - Liechten­stein - Innsbruck, Austria.
Sightseeing

Travel to tiny Liech­ten­stein, stopping in the capital, Vaduz. Then, cross the border into Austria and on to Innsbruck. A tour highlights the legacy of the one-time Hapsburg rulers. (B)

Day 9 - Venice

 
Innsbruck - Venice, Italy.
Sightseeing

Today drive over the 620-foot-high Europa Bridge and via Brenner Pass into Italy.

Next, travel through the foothills of the Dolomites to romantic Venice. (B)

Day 10 - Venice

 
River or Barge Cruise

Discover this Byzan­tine city on a canal cruise by private motor launch to St. Mark's Square.

Sightseeing

View the Bridge of Sighs and the Doge's Palace before visiting a glassblowing factory. Then there is free time. (B,D)


Day 11 - Rome

 
Venice - Rome.
Bus

Drive into the Apennine Hills, then through Tuscany on the way to Rome.

Sightseeing

Tonight, why not experience a little of “La Dolce Vita”? (B)

Day 12 - Rome

 
Sightseeing

Today's morning sightseeing tour includes a visit to St. Peter's Basilica to see Michelangelo's Pieta, then cross the Tiber for spectacular views of the ­Colos­seum, the Forum and Circus Maximus. (B)


Day 13 - Sorrento

 
Rome - Isle Of Capri - Sorrento.
River or Barge Cruise

An early start takes you into the province of Campania. Reach Naples and embark on a cruise to the Isle of Capri.

Sightseeing

Ascend to Capri Town by funicular and enjoy a guided walking tour, seeing some of the gardens and the Faraglioni Rocks.

Then return by ferry to Sorrento, a clifftop summer resort. (B,D)

Day 14 - Assisi

 
Sorrento - Pompeii - Assisi.
Sightseeing

Off to Pompeii for a walking tour around the excavations with a local guide. Then travel past the Abbey of Monte Cassino to the Umbrian hills and Assisi, St. Francis' town. (B,D)

Day 15 - Florence

 
Assisi - Florence.
Sightseeing

A tour includes the Basilica of St. Francis. Next, off to Florence. On arrival, a walking tour with a local guide features the Duomo, Piazza Signoria and a visit to the Basilica of Santa Croce.

Shopping

There is free time to shop or stroll to Piazzale Michelangelo. (B,D)

Day 16 - Nice

 
Florence - Pisa - Nice, France.
Sightseeing

Leaving Florence, stop at Pisa to see its Leaning Tower. Then pass the quarries of Carrara and drive via Genoa to Nice on the French Riviera.

Later, sample the high life on a visit to Monaco to see the Monte Carlo Casino before dinner in a French restaurant. (B,D)

Day 17 - Lyon

 
Cote D’azur Excur­sion.
Sightseeing

Drive along sparkling shores to fashionable Cannes. Then into the hills for a stop at medieval St. Paul de Vence.

Finally, visit a local perfumery before returning to Nice. (B)


Day 18 - Lyon

 
Nice - Avignon - Lyon.
Sightseeing

Head to Lyon, the ancient capital of Gaul, where an orientation tour highlights Fourvière Hill and the Place Bellecour, one of the largest squares in France.

Food and Dining

Tonight, relish dinner in a typical French restaurant. (B,D)

Day 19 - Paris

 
Lyon - Beaune - Paris.
Bus

Drive along the Rhône Valley to charming Beaune. Then travel through the wine-producing Burgundy region to Paris, the lively French capital.

Day 20 - Paris

 
Sightseeing

A guided sightseeing tour features a drive along the Champs Elysées from the Place de la Concorde to the Arc de Triomphe. Then ascend the Eiffel Tower to the second floor by elevator, and later enjoy views of Notre Dame and the ornate Alexander III bridge.

Food and Dining

Tonight, savor a Farewell Dinner. (B,D)


Day 21 - Paris

 
Depart Paris.

Your home­bound flight arrives the same day. (B)
