Today’s sightseeing tour starts with Chinatown, the second largest in North America. Next is Gastown, with its charming cobbled streets and historic buildings. Then on to Stanley Park to view the famous totem poles and learn about their significance to the aboriginal community.

Train

Board the Rocky Mountaineer train for an unforgettable daylight rail journey through British Columbia and Alberta. Pass through the fertile fields of the Fraser River Valley and alongside the towering peaks of the Coast Mountains before entering Fraser Canyon.

Following the Thompson River, arrive at the cattle ranch city of Kamloops for the night. (CB,L) Stay at Assigned by Rocky Mountaineer.

Sightseeing

Back on board the Rocky Mountaineer, continue through rolling hills and into the snowy peaks of the Monashee Mountains. Highlights of your journey include Pyramid Falls, the glaciers of the Albreda Icefield and Mount Robson, the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies.

Arrive at the delightful alpine resort of Jasper this afternoon. Stay at Chateau Jasper (SF).

Start the day with a narrated walk along Maligne Canyon, one of the most beautiful gorges in the Canadian Rockies, with spectacular rock formations and waterfalls.

The rest of the day is at leisure.

This morning, travel along the Icefields Parkway, hailed as one of the world's most scenic drives. At the Columbia Icefield board an Ice Explorer for an exciting expedition on massive Athabasca Glacier.

Then climb Sunwapta Pass, stopping at Bow Lake before arriving in Banff. (FB,D)

See the highlights of Banff on a morning tour. View Bow Falls, the viewpoint of Surprise Corner along Tunnel Mountain Drive, and the wind-shaped ‘hoodoos’ overlooking Bow Valley. Ride to the top of Sulphur Mountain on board the Banff Gondola for a bird''s eye view of six mountain ranges.

Sightseeing

The afternoon and evening are free. Perhaps take an optional scenic helicopter flight over Mount Assiniboine or a float trip down the Bow River. (FB)

National Parks

Your first stop this morning is at stunning Lake Louise. On a narrated walk along the lakeshore, learn about the wildlife, nature and history of this spec­tacular lake. Then head west over Kicking Horse Pass and through the Columbia Mountains and Glacier National Park before traveling through the temperate rainforest of Mount Revelstoke National Park.

At Little Shuswap Lake, a native Elder of the Little Shuswap Indians leads an inter-pretive walk featuring native artifacts, beautiful wood carvings and a kekuli pit house, the historic Shuswap winter home.

Food and Dining

Enjoy a delicious BBQ dinner while traditional stories are pre­sented by a native Storyteller. After dinner, hear the legend of the dreamcatcher, and perhaps make one of your own. (FB,D)

A scenic day! Travel over the majestic Cascade Range and alongside the Coast Mountains. Then follow the Fraser River to the Pacific and cross the Strait of Georgia by ferry, cruising through the Gulf Islands to beautiful Vancouver Island and the capital city, Victoria.

An orientation tour includes the beautiful Inner Harbour, the ornate Parliament Buildings and Bastion Square.
