Detailed Trip Description
This tour combines the general beauty and excitement of an Australian tour with the special delight of a wine-tasting tour. You will see the beautiful countryside and vineyards of Hunter Valley, Barossa Valley and Yarra Valley, as well as taste many of Australia's fine wines. You will have many of Australia's tour experiences, such as Sydney tours, a Harbor cruise, Blue Mountains, Adelaide city tour, Melbourne city tour, Great Ocean Road and more. There are also some delightful options, such as Kangaroo Island where you can encounter Australian wildlife; including rare birds, faery penguins, sea lions, kangaroos, wallabees and more.
Trip Itinerary
Day 1 - On the Plane
Commercial Flight
Leave LAX or SFO for Sydney The adventure begins!
Day 2 - On the Plane
In flight.
Commercial Flight
The flight does not actually take two days, but you lose one day because of the International Date Line. You will regain it at the end of your trip.
Day 3 - Sydney
Sightseeing
In the afternoon you will have a tour of the Sydney Opera House. The rest of the day is free to walk around the various areas, from Circular Quay, or the Rocks area or even Darling Harbor.
Day 4 - Sydney
River or Barge Cruise
This morning make your own way to Circular Quay where you board your Matilda Cruise vessel. Cruise the spectacular Sydney Harbor, a must for all visitors to see. See the Opera House and the Harbor Bridge from the water.
Sightseeing
Return to Circular Quay where you will have a guided walking tour through the historic Rocks area. The Rocks is the foundation place of Sydney and Australia, and of enormous historical significance.

Day 5 - Sydney
Sightseeing
You will be picked up for your Hunter Valley Wine Tour.* Leaving your hotel, you will wind your way through the leafy Northern Suburbs & then escape through the brilliant sandstone outcrops of Ku-ring-gai National Park to reach the mighty Hawkesbury River.
Wine
We stroll through the villages before departing for the Broken Back Range & climb the escarpment to Mt View before descending into the Hunter Valley to begin our wine tasting at a few of the very special boutique wineries in the area. We chat to the owners, admire their cottage locations & let them show off the best of their vintages. In the foothills of the Broken Back Range, we enjoy a gourmet lunch & spend the afternoon visiting some of the larger vineyards for more superb wine tastings.
Relaxation
As the afternoon approaches we return to Sydney via the scenic freeway to conclude this relaxing and enjoyable day. B,L.
Day 6 - Sydney
Sightseeing
This fantastic Ecotour in a quality 4WD vehicle* begins at your hotel & the historical Rocks area of old Sydney. It is here we leave the ‘average' Blue Mountains tourist behind & enter the National Park to unlock a piece of Australia you would never have known existed. We visit an ancient Aboriginal site & outstanding lookouts; examine rock formations & the unusual plants & wildlife that abound the area. From the quaint little village of Leura we skirt around Cliff Drive to Katoomba where you will find yourself looking out over the magnificent Jamieson Valley (Australia's Grand Canyon) & the Three Sisters.
Food and Dining
We enjoy a delicious barbeque lunch including a selection of fine Australian wines with a cheese platter under the canopy of the Australian bush.
Sightseeing
Before returning to Sydney we drop into a hidden valley where we roam the area, seeking out the many kangaroos that graze in the wild (conditions permitting). B,L.
Day 7 - Adelaide
Commercial Flight
Today you will fly from Sydney to Adelaide.
Hotel
Upon arrival you will be transferred to your hotel.
Sightseeing
This afternoon you will have a city highlights tour. This tour also includes visiting the charming German influenced suburb of Handorf.

Day 8 - Adelaide
Sightseeing
You will be collected from your city hotel in a luxury, air conditioned touring vehicle andtake you on the famous "Classic Times Amongst the Vines" day tour. Hosted by an experienced Wine Tour Guide, the day is full of surprises, none the least the vineyards themselves – the oldest continually working vineyards in the world! Visit small, family wineries that provide a special experience. Cellar door tastings and sales from wineries whose wines have earned top awards from around the world. Lunch included. B,L.
Sightseeing
Note: If you have more time, we Highly recommend that you add at least two days to go to Kangaroo Island. Here you can have some interaction with the wonderful wildlife of Australia close-up as well as stay at a beautiful boutique hotel and enjoy the fine wines and gourmet home-cooked meals of the hosts.
Day 9 - Melbourne
Commercial Flight
Today you have a free morning in Adelaide. You have an early afternoon flight to Melbourne. You arrive in the evening.
Food and Dining
The Colonial Tramcar: Travel through the city and fashionable suburbs whilst enjoying an elegant and delicious dinner. B,D .
Day 10 - Melbourne
Sightseeing
Today you will see the famous Great Ocean Road and the beautiful pastural land on this intimate 4WD tour. You will have a coach tour along the Great Ocean Road, where you will be able to see the Twelve Apostles, Island Arch, Razorback and the rugged coastline. You will have lunch at a delightful boutique restaurant, with your choice of fine Australralian wines. Afterwards you will drive back via an inland route in which you will see some of the georgeous rural, rancher lands and rolling lush hills.

You will be returned to your hotel in the late evening. B,L.
Day 11 - Melbourne
Sightseeing
Today you will visit the Yarra Valley one of the major wine regions in Australia. You will have the opportunity to visit some boutique wineries and experience a fabulous lunch.
Note: Once again, this can be a small group tour or your own private tour for an additional expense. B,L.
Day 12 - Melbourne
Leave Melbourne for LAX or SFO with a lifetime of wonderful memories! B.
