The capital and administrative center for French Polynesia is a great place to begin or end your South Pacific cruise. The main street, not surpisingly, runs right along the harbor. It's lined with cafes, bistros, and shops selling jewelry made from local black pearls, colorful 'pareus' (sarongs) and more.

Day 14 - Moorea

Ocean Cruise

Jagged peaks, magnificent bays and emerald lagoons combine with the quintessential South Seas, laid-back feeling to create the ideal island paradise -- Moorea. Pineapple plantations and thick bamboo forests cover the mountain slopes, and the air is filled with the tantalizing aromas of vanilla, papaya and coffee. Scattered amidst the beauty are marae, ancient temples that evoke an ancient, mystical culture. Moorea is the perfect place to rediscover peace and tranquillity.

Day 15 - Bora Bora

Ocean Cruise

James Michener called it the most beautiful island in the South Pacific. You may confirm his opinion, either by the local 'Le Truck' transport, 4-wheeldrive van, or in a helicopter overhead. And the offshore beauty is accessible by a glassbottomed boat or by snorkeling--with shark feeding thrown in for added spice!

Day 16 - At Sea

Ocean Cruise

Enjoy Sea Cruise.

Day 17 - Rarotonga

Ocean Cruise

The most popular of the Cook Islands, Rarotonga is also the capital of this independent 15-island nation. It is a beautiful place, whose people are warm and gracious. The land is fertile, as are the seas, yielding black pearls and fish in abundance. Enjoy a colorful folkloric performance presented in your honor.

Day 21 - Auckland

Ocean Cruise

Arrive in Auckland. This 'City of Sails' boasts two fine harbors separated by a high steep ridge. The city actually spreads over a number of extinct volcanic cones, affording great views from their slopes.

Day 22 - At Sea

Bay of Islands
Ocean Cruise

Arrive in Bay of Islands. In 1840 the nation of New Zealand was born when Maori chiefs signed a treaty with the British at nearby Waitangi. The area is rich with historic sites--Kemp House from 1822, the Stone Store from 1833--but it is the beautiful Bay of Islands itself which is the main attraction.

Day 23 - 24 - At Sea

Ocean Cruise

Enjoy Sea Cruise.

Day 25 - Sydney

Ocean Cruise

From Harbour Bridge to the landmark white crescents of the Opera House, Sydney exceeds expectations in a big Aussie way. There is time to explore the trendy restaurants, museums, and specialty stores of 'The Rocks'. And the Argyle Stores offer a variety of items, from Australian opals to Aboriginal bark paintings and boomerangs. This is end of cruise.
