Detailed Trip Description
Samut Songkhram is a lovely town with a unique character, set on the Mae Klong river delta of central Thailand. You can find a unique country market situated along railway tracks. Over on the island of Ampawa, look for the Tha Kha floating market, a favorite place for locals and tourists to bargain with traders over produce and other items. The Ampawa Night Market has also gained considerable acclaim in a country known for its night markets. For a bit of fresh air you can explore a lychee plantation, or enjoy ancient temples by bike. If you're feeling adventurous, take a boat ride through crowded canals. Experience happiness and inner peace by 'making merit,' a traditional Thai custom involving the presentation of an alms to a monk. If history is your thing, you'll surely enjoy visiting a museum dedicated to Rama II, the King of Siam from 1809 to 1824. And don't forget to sample some local cuisine. Your escape to Ampawa may be a short one, but it'll be memorable as well
Trip Itinerary
Day 1 - Samut Songkhram
Transfer from Bangkok to Samut Songkhram by drive and visit several markets.
Sightseeing
Your day begins with a drive to the garden province of Samut Songhkhram just south of Bangkok. At first, your visit will consist of stops at several markets including the famed Tha Kha floating market (whose waterways can be explored on non-market days as well) before taking a boat ride to a local restaurant for lunch and your resort accommodations. In the late afternoon, you'll ferry across the river to Ampawa Island for a bicycle ride through lychee plantations and past ancient temples prior to returning to the resort for a seafood dinner and shopping at the Ampawa night market. Guests who choose to do so can take boat ride along the river to see fireflies, although this activity is optional and not included in package price.

Day 2 - Samut Songkhram
Explore Samut Songkhram and Ratchaburi floating markets and the day after take a paddle boat ride through the busy canals.
Sightseeing
Prepare yourself for an early awakening to 'make merit' by giving alms to local Buddhist monks and take a boat ride through the canals to Damneon Saduak in neighboring Ratchaburi province to visit another busy floating market. The day continues with a paddle boat ride through the busy canals and a return trip to Amphawa by long-tail boat in time for lunch. Before going back to Bangkok, visit Rama II Park where a group of typical Thai Houses have been converted to a museum. This Museum houses an interesting collection of musical instruments, beautiful masks and various household items used by King Rama II.
