Detailed Trip Description

Designed for those who have travelled to Italy before this tour highlights some of the more popular coastal towns as well as the Tuscany. This tour can be customized to fit your needs. For example instead of 2 nights Rome you could do 2 nights Perugia and a rental car the whole trip instead of First Class Rail.

Trip Itinerary

Day 1 - Naples

 
Arrival Naples. Take the train to Sorrento. Afternoon at leisure in Sorrento. Two overnights at the Hotel Antiche Mara or Similar, breakfast included.

Day 2 - Sorrento

 
Full day at leisure in Sorrento, perhaps you will want to take a boat excursion to Capri Island or maybe take a bus or boat along the Amalfi Coast.

Day 3 - Rome

 
Take the train to Rome via Naples this morning. This afternoon there is time to take a first look at Rome or if you have been to Rome before you could spend the next 2 nights in Perugia instead. Perugia is the capital of the Umbria Region. Two overnights in the Residenza Antica or similar, breakfast included.

Day 4 - Rome

 
Full day at leisure in Rome. Perhaps today you will wish to explore the ancient ruins or the Vatican.

Day 5 - Siena

 
This morning take the train to Siena. Afternoon at leisure to explore the Tuscan Hills. 2 overnights at the Villa Scacciapensieri or similar, breakfast included.

Day 6 - Siena

 
Full day at leisure in Siena. Time to visit Siena or the surrounding villages, such as San Gimignano or visit a vineyard for some wine tasting.

Day 7 - Genova

 
Take the train along the Ligurian Coast to Santa Margherita. If desired you can stop in Pisa to take a look at the Leaning Tower or in Lucca for a few hours before arriving in Santa Margherita. Two overnights at the Hotel Jolanda or similar, including breakfast.

Day 8 - Genova

 
Full day at leisure in this charming seaside resort.

Day 9 - Genova

 
Depart Santa Margherita by train to Genova. Fly home from the Genova Airport.
