Day 1 - Peru

Leaving from Huaraz by vehicle, we take a 20-minute ride to the village of Marian.
Hiking
From here, a two hour hike past fields and farms will bring us to Willcawain--an archaeological site of the Recuay-Wari culture (dating to the 800-400 B.C.). We will visit the complex and have lunch in the vicinity. On the trail, we will observe the snow-capped peaks of Vallunaraju, Ranrapalca, Churup and San Juan that surround Huaraz. We pass fields tended by campesinos with their adobe houses clustered in this patchwork of land. This is a unique day in the outskirts of Huaraz.
