Detailed Trip Description
This is a luxury gourmet culinary small group tour to India. This tour is all inclusive except for International airfare. This tour includes fabulous hotels, great food, cooking demos, sightseeing, nature and more. Chef Prasad Chirnomula from Thali restaurants in Fairfield and New Haven Counties, Conn has received a James Beard award. He and I will be accompanying the tour. This is a one of a kind trip.
Trip Itinerary
January 31st - Mumbai
Arrive in Mumbai to a warm welcome with traditional Aarti (prayer recital), Tikka (a vermillion will be put on the forehead during Aarti wishing you a successful tour) and garlands.
Thereafter, receive assistance at the airport lounge followed by a transfer to the hotel in a motor coach.
Welcome reception at the hotel with snacks and drinks so all can meet.
Enjoy a comfortable overnight stay at the Hotel Taj Mahal & Palace in Mumbai.
February 1st - Mumbai
After a scrumptious breakfast at the hotel, embark on an exciting excursion to Elephanta Caves by charter boat.
While you enjoy sightseeing, you'll be assisted by an English speaking guide throughout the tour.
Thereafter, enjoy a delectable sea food lunch at the Trishna Restaurant.
Come afternoon, proceed for an exciting tour of Mumbai’s ‘Food Bazaars’ such as the wholesale fruit & vegetable markets in Colaba & Koli fishing village and market.
Return to the hotel and relax for the rest of the afternoon.
In the evening, enjoy a delicious dinner at the in house Indian speciality restaurant called Masala Kraft along with a demo and lecture by the Executive Chef Hemant Oberoi or his senior staff.
February 2nd - Mumbai
After a hearty breakfast at the hotel, proceed to Taj President Hotel to meet Chef Uddipan at Konkan Café.
Listen to Chef Uddipan share his experiences and insights about Indian curries and herbs used in Indian curries followed by lunch at the Konkan Cafe.
After lunch, embark on a coach tour of Mumbai. Enjoy tasty (packed) snacks from Swati. In the evening, enjoy a delectable dinner at Mostly Grills (a rooftop venue with a menu that’ll include delicacies such as ‘Snow crab & globe artichoke salad’ and ‘tropical fruits tart’) at The Orchid, Mumbai while listening to music.
February 3rd - Kochi
After enjoying breakfast, receive a transfer to domestic airport in a coach to board a Kochi bound Jet Connect flight.
Arrive at the Kochi airport to a warm welcome by our representative and receive assistance for a transfer to Brunton’s Boat Yard for a mouth watering lunch along with a lecture and a cooking demo by the Executive Chef Ajeeth Janardhan.
Meanwhile, your luggage will be transferred to the Hotel Taj Malabar. After lunch, proceed to Jew Town to visit the Jewish Synagogue and the famous Spice Market of Kochi before proceeding to the hotel.
In the evening, experience the artistry & elegance of the highly ritualized ‘Kathakali’ dance which will recite interesting stories from ancient Hindu epics of ‘The Ramayana’ and ‘The Mahabharata’.
After a fun-filled musical evening, enjoy a delectable dinner at the hotel’s in-house seafood speciality restaurant, Rice Boat, (that will include treats such as ‘Masala grilled prawns’, Kerala fish curry and batter-fried squid rings) with the Executive Chef Rashid and listen to him share his insights about the food.
February 4th - Kochi
After a delicious breakfast, receive a transfer to the jetty, (approximately 2 hours drive) by a motor coach to embark on a one night long backwater cruise.
Late morning, the vessel will anchor near Kanjippadam from where you’ll be transferred to a traditional luxury ‘Rice Boat’ (reworked models of boats made of logs, tied together with jute ropes) to navigate through the narrower sections of the backwaters.
After an exciting backwater experience, enjoy lunch at Philip Kutty Farm, a family run home stay, on a self contained island in the back waters, offering traditional Malabar cuisine and culture to its visitors, followed by some more enjoyable time on the cruise.
February 5th - Kerala
After enjoying a scrumptious breakfast on board, disembark at the jetty of Kumarakom Lake Resort. Arrive at the resort to a warm, traditional Kerala welcome followed by an exclusive vegetarian Sadya lunch on Banana Leaf along with a live demonstration by the executive chef. Enjoy the afternoon at leisure. In the evening, enjoy a delectable sea food dinner at Zuri Kumarakom along with a demo and lecture by in house chefs.
February 6th - Goa
After a hearty breakfast at the hotel, receive a motor coach transfer to Kochi Airport (approximately 1.5 hours drive) to board a flight to Goa.
An early lunch will be served on board. Arrive in Goa to a special Goan welcome by traditionally dressed Goan women inside the airport lounge.
Thereafter, receive a motor coach transfer to Taj Exotica Hotel. Afternoon will be at leisure. Enjoy an evening beach barbeque based on a Goan theme on the hotel’s private beach along with cooking insights from Master Chef Rego. Later, Chef Rego will distribute his culinary book to the members of the group.
February 7th - Goa
After a scrumptious breakfast at the hotel, enjoy the morning at leisure for beach activities like dolphin chasing, banana boat ride or beach volleyball etc.
The afternoon is reserved for a hands on cooking class at the hotel followed by a lip smacking lunch. After lunch, embark on a guided tour to Panjim, (Capitol of Goa) followed by an enjoyable sunset cruise on a charter boat with exciting on board performances by fire eating dancers, an illusionist and mesmerising Konkani folk dance performances.
Thereafter, enjoy free Goan spirits & snacks on board followed by a scrumptious seafood dinner at Fernando’s Nostalgia (located in North Goa).
February 8th - Goa
After an enjoyable breakfast, embark on a guided tour of the Old Goa church followed by a delectable homemade lunch with a local Portuguese family.
Enjoy the afternoon at leisure followed by a cocktail session at N.U.T.S and then, a scrumptious dinner at Fins & Rambooz.
February 9th, - Goa
In the morning, receive a transfer to the airport to board a flight to Mumbai. Breakfast will be served on board.
On arrival in Mumbai, board a connecting flight to Udaipur.
Upon arrival in Udaipur, receive a transfer to the Monsoon Palace by a 4-wheel drive vehicle (approximately 40 minute’s drive). The Monsoon Palace of Maharaja of Udaipur offers a 360° aerial view of the Mewar Kingdom. This is where an English speaking guide will introduce you to the legacy of Mewar and the wonder that it once was.
Dinner will be quite special with a royal welcome by decorated camels, horses and bands that will set the tone of your Rajasthan sojourn.
After a princely welcome, enjoy a delectable Rajasthani dinner on the terrace of Shiv Niwas Palace (City Palace) overlooking the picturesque Lake Pichola.
February 10th - Udaipur
Enjoy a Yoga session followed by a tasty breakfast at the hotel. After breakfast, embark on a guided tour of Udaipur. The tour will include Jagdish Temple and the City Palace. Jagdish Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is famous for its stone carvings. The City Palace is located on the east bank of Lake Pichola and has several palaces viewed from within its complex.

The famous structures or palaces viewed from the Lake Palace appear like a fort. They are interlinked inside the complex through a number of chowks or quadrangles with zigzag corridors.
The City Palace in Udaipur was built in a flamboyant style and is considered the largest of its type in Rajasthan, a fusion of the Rajasthani and Mughal architectural styles. Afterwards, return to our hotel for lunch and enjoy the rest of the afternoon at leisure. In the evening dress up in your custom tailored Indian clothes complimentary of the tour to enjoy a Dubar theme dinner with a setting like a royal court at Devi Garh.
February 11th - Udaipur
Wake up to a rejuvenating Yoga session followed by a scrumptious breakfast at the hotel. After breakfast, proceed for an optional tour of the hotel followed by a visit to a local painting workshop in Udaipur for a live demonstration of Udaipur miniature painting.
Enjoy lunch at Fateh Garh Terrace. In the evening, visit Sikarbari (the hunting lodge of the Maharaja of Udaipur) where you’ll be welcomed by a Royal procession of horses, camels, lance men, torch bearers and camel carts.
Witness the famous Risaala Lawn of Sikarbari transform into a rustic Rajasthani village with live folk dances, snake charmers, potters and bangle sellers. Thereafter, enjoy a gala dinner at Roysala Lawn.
February 12th - Delhi
Early morning today, receive a transfer to the Udaipur airport to board a flight to Delhi. Breakfast will be served on board.
Upon arrival in Delhi, receive a transfer to the hotel. After checking in, embark on a tour of Old Delhi followed by a special lunch carefully chosen and designed by Chef Prasad Chirnomula.
Enjoy the afternoon at leisure followed by a gala Kashmiri Wazwan dinner at Chor Bizzare located in Old Delhi.
February 13th - Agra
After a hearty breakfast today, receive a coach transfer to Agra (approximately 203 kms, 4.5 hours drive), enjoy a tea break at Country Inn Koshi (midway motel).
En route, pay a visit to the Akbar's Mausoleum at Sikandara for a quick photograph.
Upon arrival in Agra, check in at the Amar Vilas. Thereafter, enjoy lunch at the Jaypee Palace followed by an evening shopping tour and then, a visit to the Luxury Collection Mughal Hotel for cocktails in their signature Maikhana bar and dinner at the Peshawari Restaurant.
The Peshawari is all about North Indian cuisine which will include mouth watering dishes like paneer tikka (grilled pieces of paneer served with a spicy topping of vegetables), tandoori phool (cauliflower seasoned with yellow chilli, spices and lemon juice), tandoori aloo (spicy baked potatoes) and murg makhni (curry chicken with butter).
An exclusive venue will be blocked for live demonstration of four Peshawari dishes by the Master Chef followed by dinner.
February 14th– Valentine’s Day - Agra
In the morning, embark on a sightseeing tour of the Taj Mahal at sunrise!
Thereafter, return to the hotel for a hearty breakfast, after which, you’ll proceed for sightseeing tour of Agra Fort followed by lunch at Mansingh Palace. Enjoy the afternoon at leisure. Come evening, enjoy a special Valentine’s dinner at the Amar Vilas.
February 15th - Delhi
After a scrumptious breakfast, proceed to the Imperial city of Fatehpur Sikri before driving to Delhi (approximately 5 hours).
Upon arrival, proceed to ITC Maurya for an interactive dinner with the Executive Chef of Dumpukht restaurant, an ITC Maurya venture. Thereafter, receive a transfer to the airport to board your flight back home.
