Trip Itinerary

Day 1 - On the Plane

 
Commercial Flight

Board your overnight transatlantic flight.

Day 2 - Prague

 
Arrive In Prague, Czech Republic.

On arrival in Prague, you will be transferred to your hotel, where the balance of the day is free.

Food and Dining

Later, join your Tour Director and traveling companions for a Welcome Drink.

Hotel

Stay at Crowne Plaza (F).


Day 3 - Prague

 
Sightseeing

Prague has a long and colorful history, from its early days as a bishopric, to becoming the residence of the Bohemian kings, and later the capital of both Bohemia and the Holy Roman Empire. The city today is a wonder to behold, with beautiful architecture, lush green hills, and graceful bridges spanning the Vltava River.

Sightseeing

On a guided walking tour this morning, visit St. Vitus Cathedral and see Hradcany Castle, the Old Town Square and the romantic Charles Bridge.

Relaxation

The afternoon is free to explore on your own, relax in a café or shop for bargains in Bohemian crystal. (B)


Day 4 - Prague

 
Sightseeing

A full day at leisure. Enjoy a walk along Prague’s winding cobblestone streets and admire the city’s marvelous architecture.

River or Barge Cruise

Perhaps take a cruise along the Vltava River or visit one of the castles on the outskirts of the city.

Performing Arts

In the evening, maybe sample Pilsen beer or attend an opera performance in one of Prague’s many theatres. (B)


Day 5 - Vienna

 
Prague - Lednice - Vienna, Austria.
Sightseeing

Travel via Brno, the one-time headquarters of Napoleon, to Lednice to visit the beautiful Italianate gardens. Then cross the border into Austria and continue on to the capital city of Vienna.

Amusement Parks

Tonight, perhaps take a stroll through Prater Park and ride on the Ferris Wheel? (B)

Stay at Savoy (SF).


Day 6 - Vienna

 
Sightseeing

Vienna has a rich his­tory dating back to Roman times. A guided sightseeing tour highlights the Hofburg Palace, Parliament Buildings, Opera House and St Stephen’s Cathedral, and includes a walk through the oldest part of the city.

Sightseeing

Your afternoon is at leisure. Perhaps do some more exploring on your own, or take a trip into the Vienna Woods.

Food and Dining

Tonight enjoy a dinner of Viennese specialties at a festive “Heuriger,” or local wine tavern. (B,D)


Day 7 - Vienna

 
Sightseeing

Enjoy a full day at leisure. Perhaps shop in the Kärntner­strasse, visit beautiful Schönbrunn Palace or one of Vienna’s more unusual museums, such as the one dedicated to Sigmund Freud.

Performing Arts

This evening, why not attend a concert of Strauss music? (B)


Day 8 - Budapest

 
Vienna - Danube Valley - Budapest, Hungary.
Sightseeing

Cross the border into Hungary and drive along the route known as the “Danube Bend” with its quaint old villages and orchards. Stop in Esztergom and see the Cathedral, Castle and St. Tamas Hill, before following the Danube River to Budapest.

River or Barge Cruise

Tonight, perhaps take an optional Danube River cruise to see this striking city by night. (B)

Day 9 - Budapest

 
Sightseeing

In 1873, the twin cities of Buda and Pest joined with ancient Obuda to form a new, unified city, Buda­pest. Charming and beautiful, the city was declared a World Heritage site in 1987. Sightseeing today includes a walking tour of Old Buda to see the Matthias Church, Great Synagogue, Fisherman's Bastion and Heroes’ Square.

Shopping

Then there is time on your own to shop for Hungarian em­broid­ery.

Food and Dining

Tonight sample Hungarian cuisine and listen to gypsy-style music. (B,D)


Day 10 - Budapest

 
Sightseeing

A full day to relax and enjoy the sights. You might take a stroll down the Vaci Utca, a pedestrian street where the city’s most sophisticated shops are located, or perhaps indulge in a spa treatment at one of the Turkish baths.

Food and Dining

Tonight, celebrate your touring adventure at a festive Farewell Dinner. (B,D)


Day 11 - Budapest

 
Depart Budapest.

Your homebound flight arrives the same day. (B)
