Detailed Trip Description
This week long exploration of Rwanda includes the vibrant city of Kigali and a visit to the Genocide Moemorial Museum before setting off for the Parc des Volcans and three days of your choice of Gorilla trekking, the Golden Monkey trek and a visit to Dian Fossey’s grave. Finish this off with two days of relaxation on the shores of Lake Kivu, an area often referred to as the ‘Martha’s Vineyard of Rwanda’.
Trip Itinerary
Day 1 - Kigali
On arrival in Kigali you are met and transferred to your hotel for an overnight stay. The Manor Hotel is one of Kigali’s loveliest hotels set in what is known as Kigali's Beverly Hills, the five-star Manor Hotel is built above the Nyarutarama Valley, the most charming green area of the city. Day 2 - Rwanda
After breakfast we embark on a city tour of Kigali including the Genocide Memorial Museum. In the afternoon, transfer to the foot of the Volcanoes and the lovely Gorilla Mountain View Lodge, set amongst striking landscapes and a short distance from the park. Day 3 - Rwanda
Today you set off on your first Gorilla trekking experience. With luck you will soon find the majestic Mountain Gorillas and spend an hour observing their behaviour. Overnight Gorilla Mountain View Lodge. (BLD)
Day 4 - Rwanda
On the second day you have the option of a second Gorilla trek to track a different family, the Golden Monkey trek of a visit to Dian Fossey’s grave. Overnight Gorilla Mountain View Lodge. (BLD)
Day 5 - Rwanda
After breakfast we will drive the short distance to the village of Gisenyi, often referred to as the ‘Martha’s Vineyard of Rwanda’. Beautifully set on one of the Great Rift Lakes, Lake Kivu, the area is blessed with sandy beaches and water sport options. You have the afternoon for relaxation in the area or at our hotel, the Lake Kivu Serena Hotel. Overnight 5 Star Lake Kivu Serena Hotel. (B)
Day 6 - Rwanda
Another day of relaxation where you can just enjoy the Lake’s tranquil setting, the hotel’s many amenities or perhaps visit the nearby volcanic hot springs. Overnight 5 Star Lake Kivu Serena Hotel. (B)
Day 7 - Kigali
After breakfast and in time for your onward flight, you will be transferred to the airport. (B)
