Sightseeing
In the morning you will go to TianAnmen Square, and then to the Forbidden City. In addition to seeing the buildings and grounds of the Emperor's palace, you will also see the Emperor's clock collection and the Qing Dynasty Jewelry, Robes and Relics collection (which Westerners rarely see). After lunch, you will be taken to the Summer Palace. B, L, D
Sightseeing
Visit Lotus Lane in the Hutong Bar Street area (a festively lit strand of bars, restaurants, and shops on the lake in the Hutong District).
Day 4 - Beijing
Sightseeing
The day begins with a tour of a Chinese Hutong. This begins with a rickshaw ride through the old neighborhood, then a short walking tour into the narrow streets of the Hutong. You will be able to visit the home of a family who lives there; feel free to ask any questions. This is the traditional housing in old Beijing that was generally four small houses surrounding a court area. The Hutong has been home to both the poor and the rich. These quaint dwellings are disappearing in the continual modernization of China. After lunch you will be taken to the massive Temple of Heaven. This area contains the circle of what the Chinese believed was the center of the earth and where the emperor would go once a year to commune with the gods for a good harvest. The grounds are actually twice the size of the Forbidden City.
Shopping
If there is time you can visit the 2nd Hand Street Market. This is where the Beijingers shop. It is only open on Saturdays and Sundays and is a cultural experience as much as it is a shopping experience. B, L
Performing Arts
Beijing Opera or visit the Hard Rock Cafe.
Day 5 - Beijing
Sightseeing
Today you will visit the Ming Tombs, including the Sacred Way and the Ding Ling Museum. You will be able to enter one of the tombs. In the Ding Ling Museum you can see artifacts and replicas from the tomb itself. After lunch you will go onto the incredible Great wall of China (at Badaling). It is an incredible feeling to be standing on one of the Seven Wonders of the World, which is over 3,900 miles in length
Commercial Flight
Then you will be taken to the airport for your flight to Shanghai.
Hotel
Upon arriving your Shanghai guide will meet you and transfer you to your hotel. B, L (dinner on the plane)
Day 6 - Shanghai

Shanghai - The East meets the West city! This historic home of European and American headquarters in China is still witnessed by the historic Bund.
Sightseeing
Today you will be taken to the world-class Shanghai Art Museum. This fantastic museum boasts a number of quality exhibits including an ancient coin collection and an ethnic minority exhibit which features their costumes, masks, and various implements and tools. After lunch, you can see the old Nanjing Road area, which is now a major shopping and social area. Then you will be taken to the Bund. After dinner, you'll see the Bund area magically transformed in the evening lights. B, L, D.
Performing Arts
Stop by the Peace Hotel to see the famous Peace Hotel Jazz Band.
Day 7 - Shanghai
Sightseeing
Today we will start the day with a trip to the gorgeous classic Chinese garden, the Yu Yuan Gardens. This provides an excellent example of the Chinese sense of beauty and their environments of serenity. The exit of this garden goes directly into a major shopping area of Shanghai, the YuYuan Market. The area is complete with shops, markets and a Classic Tea House with a zig-zag bridge. To give you an idea of how westernized Shanghai has become, this section of Shanghai is called, China town. After lunch you will be taken to the Jade Buddha Temple and if there is time to the Jade Carving Factory.
Performing Arts
Shanghai Acrobats.
Day 8 - Shanghai
