Trip Itinerary
Day 1 - San Salvador
Settle in and see the sights of the magnificent San Salvador!
Hotel
Take the flight to El Salvador. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel. Afternoon San Salvador City Tour. San Salvador is known for its major landmarks such the Metropolitan Cathedral, Monument to the Savior of the World, Monument to Liberty and the National Theatre of El Salvador. San Salvador is the second most populous city in Central American and home to one half of the country’s wealth. You may want to add the panoramic night city tour to experience the lively restaurants and bars of San Salvador. Overnight San Salvador.
Day 2 - Santa Ana
Visit the Pompeii of America
After breakfast, departure to visit the Pompeii of America, the archaeological site "Joya de Ceren”, declared World Heritage by UNESCO in 1993, after visiting the Ruins of “San Andres”. Lunch in the city of Santa Ana and scenic tour through the city: Santa Ana´s Gothic Cathedral & Santa Ana´s Theatre. Visit the archaeological site "Casablanca", where he observed a demonstration of dyeing cloth with indigo as did our ancestors. Later visit the "Tazumal Ruins”. Return to the city. Overnight in San Salvador.
Day 3 - San Salvador
Visit Colonial Towns
Departure after breakfast to the Volcano Complex, to admire the beautiful cone of Izalco Volcano, 1 hour walk by the sighting of the Cerro Verde, Ilamatepec Volcano and Lake Coatepeque. Then, transfer to have lunch in one of the 3 colonial towns to visit: Juayúa, Apaneca and Concepcion de Ataco with a lot of handicrafts, paintings and colorful blankets made in ancient looms. Back to the Hotel in the City. (Overnight in Apaneca Optional)
Day 4 - Santa Ana
See the "Lighthouse of the Pacific."
Volcanoes National Park boasts impressive views of Izalco and
Santa Ana’s volcanoes, and Coatepeque Lake. Izalco Volcano erupted almost continuously from 1770 to 1958 and was known as the “Lighthouse of the Pacific.” Santa Ana Volcano is the highest volcano in El Salvador and is 2,381 meters above sea level. Afternoon at leisure to enjoy Coatepeque Lake. Return to San Salvador. Overnight in San Salvador.
Day 5 - San Salvador
Relaxed Day of Shopping
Three hours before flight departure to the Handicraft Market of San Salvador to make the last shopping of the voyage. Transfer to Airport of El Salvador.
