Trip Itinerary
Day 1 - Iquique
Bus
Reception in airport of Iquique and transfer to hotel. Free afternoon to enjoy the places of city. Accommodation in hotel.
Day 2 - Iquique
Sightseeing
Breakfast in hotel. Departure for a tour around the city seeing the beaches of Cavancha, Brava and Primeras Piedras. On the way it is possible to see buildings from the nitate days (1880 – 1920), located on Balmaceda and Baquedano avenues, where the Astoreca Palace, the Regional Museum and other buildings are located. Visit to the former Railway Station, from where the trains used to come out loaded with nitrate, to end the trip visiting Zona Franca in Iquique. Return to the hotel.
Day 3 - Iquique
Sightseeing
Breakfast in hotel. Departure to visit the monumento to the salrpetre workers.
Arrival to the abandoned saltpeter-minimg town of Humberstone, from beginnings of the 20th century. Then departure towards Pozo
Almonte, that was the place in charge of supplying water to the saltpeter trains. Arrival to the Pampa del Tamarugal, with 38.000 hectares of Tamarugos, trees that grow despite being in the middle of the most arid desert in the world. Visit to the Pintados Geoglyphs, where there are more than 400 designs (human, animal, and geometric). Return to the hotel in Iquique.
Day 4 - Iquique
Bus
Breakfast in hotel. At agreed time, transfer to airport to take departure flight.
