Detailed Trip Description

Ethnic and Cultural Daily Departures – Minimum 1 Passenger 04 Days / 03 Nights.  Season: All year round, with restrictions according to weather conditions in February.  Services: Private  Languages: Spanish – English  Some places visited exceed 4000 mts height.  Restrictions: Not recommended for pregnant women, small children, and people with heart problems and asthma.  This program may start in Iquique and end in Arica.  Accommodation conditions in Colchane: simple accommodations, shared bath, hot water and rooms with 2 beds.  Travel conditions: From Putre to Colchane the travel will be done through: land roads, in lonely places to observe the nature, flora, fauna and Andean villages. There are neither hotels nor restaurants in these places (except in Putre), only road inns and guest houses. Includes entrance fees for mentioned places.

Day 1 - Arica

Day 2 - Arica

 
Arica - Socoroma - Lago Chungará - Putre
Sightseeing

Travel across Lluta Valley, visit to Rosario´s petroglyphs and the town of Poconchile. There are candelabra cactus
(Browningia Candelaris) in Quebrada Cardones. Pukará de Copaquilla, pre Inca defensive construction, is located in the
highest point of the town with the same name. Trekking to Socoroma, Aymara town, there it´s possible to appreciate oregano, maize and potatoes cultivations in ancient terraces. Visit to Lauca Park, Parinacota, Aymara ceremony town and Chungará lake. Arrival to Putre, recommended to become acclimatized to height. Box lunch in route.

Day 3 - Arica

 
Putre - Guallatiri - Surire Salt Flat - Colchane
Sightseeing

Departure visit three protected areas: Lauca National Park, Reserva Nacional Las Vicuñas and Surire Salt Flat Natural Monument, all of them with a great variety of wild animals like: rheas, vicunas and flamingos. Visit to Aymara stone villages: Ancuta, Guallatire, Viluvio, located hillside of Andean volcanoes like: Guallatire with its constant fumaroles.
Departure to Surire, where flamingos and other Andean birds live, picnic in Salar. Then trip to Colchane among bofedals
and queñoas, native trees adapted to the dry Altiplanic cold, passing through Mucomucone, Vilacollo, Arabila, Enquelga, villages stopped in the time, dedicated to llamas and alpacas` breeding and to beautiful traditional weaves. Arrival to Colchane and overnight in a simple residence with shared bath. Dinner and breakfast.

Day 4 - Iquique

Sightseeing

Excursion to Iquique. The fall begins leaving the mountain range behind. Panoramic view of Chuzmiza, town located in
a deep gully in the Andean foothills, it has field terraces. In a wide gully in the middle of the desert is located San Lorenzo de Tarapacá, ancient supplier for people who crossed the desert. Visit to Unita hill to see the Giant of Atacama. Box lunch. Arrival to Iquique and transfer to airport.
