DAY 1: - ARRIVAL – NAIROBI

Adventure

Upon arrival, you are met and transferred to your hotel. After refreshing, an afternoon drive takes you through Kenya’s modern, mile high tour of the city including visits to Giraffe Center, where you have a rare opportunity of feeding the gentle Rothschild’s Giraffe and Karen Blixen Museum dedicated to the author of Out of Africa. You return to your Hotel later in the evening.

DAY 2: – Amboseli National Park

Adventure

Depart after break fast and journey back to Nairobi for lunch at a local restaurant. After lunch, drive on to Amboseli National Park arriving in time for en-route game drive to the lodge in the back drop of majestic Mt. Kilimanjaro (5895 meters). Check into the lodge as the sun sets!

Amboseli National Park

Adventure

A game drive through Amboseli takes you across this vast lakebed – often dry, but still very swampy in some areas. Amboseli is best known for its great herds of elephant – you will often find many of them standing knee-deep in the water, spraying themselves to keep cool. But there is a lot of other game here too – cheetah, buffalo, giraffe, many types of gazelle and other plains game- and it is all set against the amazing backdrop of majestic Mount Kilimanjaro showing all its glory. DAY 4: ABERDARES National Park

Check out after breakfast and head northwest to the unique Aberdare National Park. Set on the slopes of Aberdare Forest the lodges have a spectacular view over the rain forest, an active waterhole and the surrounding bush. Among other host of wildlife viewed from the lodge terrace/balcony includes, elephants, buffaloes, waterbucks and occasionally rhinos and the rare leopards.Dinner and Overnight - The Ark (www.fairmonthotels.com) or Treetops Lodge, B LD. The Aberdare National Park was created in 1950 to protect the forested slopes and moors of the Aberdare Mountains. The park has elephant, lion, rhino, black leopard and the beautiful but elusive bongo antelope, and is often part of a bigger safari itinerary that takes in the Masai Mara, Samburu National Reserve and Amboseli National Park.
The lodges are one of the main attractions of the Aberdares. Both Treetops and The Ark are built above the ground beside floodlit waterholes with salt licks.

In Harmony With Nature - the lodge is constructed around the trees which grow through the building and is also raised on stilts allowing game to move freely through the area.

Wildlife Comes To You - positioned in the path of an ancient elephant migratory route between the Aberdare Mountains and Mt Kenya National Park, and directly in front of a watering hole and salt lick.

DAY 5: - Samburu Game Reserve

Adventure

Meet your safari guide and drive north through the farm lands of the Kikuyu tribesmen famed for coffee and tea FARMING. At the foot of Mt. Kenya, Africa’s second Highest Mountain (5199m), you will cross the equator at Nanyuki town, here, Whirlpool EQUATOR WATER DEMONSTRATION will be conducted by a guide and certificates issued at each member. On different hemispheres, water spins in different directions. Descend from the lush highlands to the arid Laikipia Plains and on to the famed Samburu Game Reserve. Samburu lies on the fringe of the hot and sparsely populated northern region of Kenya. In the afternoon, there will be a game drive returning to the lodge as sunsets!

DAY 6: – Samburu Game Reserve

Adventure

Both Morning and afternoon game drives are scheduled for today. Samburu harbours a number of wildlife species rarely found elsewhere. Enjoy morning and afternoon game viewing in search of Northern Species of Game not seen South of the Equator, such as Reticulated Giraffe, Grevy, Zebra, Beisa Oryx and Somali Ostrich. Another creature UNIQUE to these areas is the Long-necked Gerenuk (meaning ‘giraffe neck’), a graceful antelope that stands upright on its hind legs to feed on tall bushes. The Uaso Nyiro River provides bathing pools for hippos, elephants and crocodiles. Keep your eyes open for lion, cheetah, or elusive leopard. There is also a variety of birds like vulturine guinea fowl among others.

Day 7: Lake Nakuru National Park

Depart early; then descend to the floor of the Valley and finally Lake Nakuru National Park in time for lunch. A game drive takes you into the park renown for its pink flamingos and a sanctuary for hundreds of other species of birds as well as leopard, black rhino and waterbuck. Lake Nakuru is the First RHINO Sanctuary in East Africa. At 1600hrs enjoy another afternoon game viewing returning to your lodge as the sun sets.

Day 8: Masai Mara Game Reserve

Adventure

Climbing and leaving L. Nakuru behind, you will climb the Western escarpment of the Rift Valley and head to the famous Masai Mara Game Reserve. You arrive in time for your mouth watering lunch and a little time for siesta before an afternoon game drive, that will take you around the world famous Masai Mara, the highlight of any safari in Kenya.

Day 9: Masai Mara Game Reserve

Adventure

Enjoy early morning and afternoon game drives, affording opportunities to search for the "big five" – elephants, buffalos, lions, rhinos and leopards. This morning there is an optional tour of a hot air balloon ride to see the park from a bird’s eye view.

Day 10: Nairobi

Adventure

Early morning pre-breakfast game drive with good views of sunrise and in the background of wildlife. After breakfast, check out and drive back to Nairobi, arriving in time for an African Barbeque Lunch at the elegant Carnivore Restaurant. www.tamarind.co.ke . Dinner own arrangement. Overnight: Nairobi Safari Club. BL. Approx distance 280 kms

Day 11: Departure

Commercial Flight

Check out after breakfast for your outbound departure flight. You will be transferred to the Airport. Rooms available until 11.00 a.m.
