Detailed Trip Description

This 15-day custom tour of Ecuador will give you a great combination of ancient Incan culture and artifacts, Spanish colonial history, and waterfront nightlife and surfing. You will start with Quito, the seat of gouverment and the highest capital city in the world, then go to Cuenca, UNESCO world heritage site, and finally relax on La Ruta del Spondylus, the beautiful Pacific Coast beaches stretching from Guayaquil to Manta.

Trip Itinerary

Days 1-4 - Quito

 
Arrival into Quito. City tours and daytrips to such fantastic sites as the Mittad del Mundo, the famous Otovalo market, and Cotopaxi- the tropical snow-covered volcano.

Day 5-7 - Cuenca

 
Cuenca is an UNESCO World Heritage Trust site for both its preservation of Incan history as well as Spanish colonial charm. It's also in easy reach of many of Ecuador's Andean mineral baths and day spas as well as home to many university students.

Day 8-10 - Manta

 
The beachfront city of Manta is Ecuador's 2nd biggest port and popular cruise destination. It is convientiently located next door to historic Monticristi, origion of the internationally recognizable "Panama" style hat and known for a variety of woven crafts.

Day 11-12 -

 
The main draw of this small village is surfing, attracting people travel from all over the world. Several national and international tournaments are held here, and with good reason. Montañita has consistently the best waves in the country.

Day 13 - Salinas

 
Salinas' popular tourist activities include game fishing, wake-boarding, water skiing, yachting, sky diving, and laying on the beach. The city offers a number of restaurants and cafes on its boardwalk, as well as artisan crafts markets. A small naval archeological museum with artifacts from the pre-Columbian era.

Day 14-15 - Guayaquil

 
Guayaquil is Ecuador's largest and most populated city with much to do. The Parque Historico is a great place to see a classic hacienda as well as many endangerered plants and trees. The newly renovated Las Peñas neighbourhood is home to 400 year old houses and center of the artist community where one can visit galleries by day and nightclubs by night.
